What do I do, dog pee is ruining my lawn?

You have green beautiful lawn and you are proud of it. After all it is result of your hard work. But only gripe is your dog’s habit of peeing on the lawn. It has damaged the part of the lawn where the dog urinates. You have tried your best to change the habit of your dog but were not successful.

If that sounds like your own story then don’t be frustrated, you have not exhausted your options, there are certain things you can do that can save your lovely lawn.

First of all know that dog urine contains ammonia and nitrogen that destroys the grass of the area where the dog urinates. If you can wash the chemical away or some how reduce their damaging effect your lawn will be saved.

Most simple thing you can do to reduce the effect of ammonia and nitrogen, wash the area away with lots of water and ensure the water does not accumulated in your lawn itself.

Another option is spraying gypsum dust or baking soda to the affected patchy area; these have the property of neutralizing the damaging effect of ammonia and nitrogen which are present in dog-urine.

For some people brewer’s yeast work beautifully, but this should not be applied to the affected area of your lawn, instead your dog needs to be fed a spoonful of the yeast with his normal diet. This will change the pH factor of the dog’s urine and stop it from being a threat to your lawn.

So as you see there are many other options that you can utilize to save your green piece. Start with the one that you find most suitable for your situation. They are proven and will hopefully work for you.
