Many people complain that presence of dog starts their allergic reaction. And they describe their problems so… vividly. It is true that some people suffer from this type of allergy. Dander is the main reason behind this allergic reaction of people.

But very few people know that dogs also suffer from allergies. In fact more than 18 per cent of dogs in United States suffer from some form of allergy. Flea allergy dermatitis is the most prominent cause of allergy in dogs. But this is not the only one; other common types are food allergy, atopic dermatitis and inhalant allergies.

Discoloration of skin and continuous itching are symptoms of common skin related allergies. Coughing, sneezing mucus discharge may indicate inhalant allergy. Food allergy is the easiest to recognize and marked by diarrhea and vomiting.

The practice of using dogs for various purposes is as old a sthe human existence. From the time of World War I formal training of dogs as assistant to men with disabilities started. Initially dogs were trained to assist blind men.

These dogs were used to guide their visually impaired masters on road and protect them from men with dishonest motives. This training first started in Germany making German Shepherd the obvious choice as trainee breed. Plus the protective nature of this breed and loyalty to the master made them most suitable for this task. Their large, powerful physique was most effective to create fear in the mind of bad people.
